Q: Why is using soap in washes a bad idea?
A: Using soap in a dogs wash will affect their skin as the acid layer of their skin will be disrupted. This can create an environment where bacteria, parasites, and viruses can breed and out of control!
Unknowingly, many pet owners may repeat washings of their dogs because of the smell caused by a proliferation of bacteria, making the problem worse as the skin's acid layer (pH level) becomes more imbalanced.
Additionally, if the shampoo makes the skin feel dry, your dog will scratch at its skin, creating abrasions for bacteria to invade. It quickly becomes a vicious cycle.
None of the Rufus & Coco washes (shampoos) contain soap. Rufus & Coco products use a natural base and formulation specifically designed to the average skin pH level of a dog. Consider that the normal range of skin pH levels for humans is 5.2 to 6.2, which means it tends to be on the acidic side, whereas the pH levels for dogs range from 5.5 to 7.5, tending toward a more alkaline concentration.
Hence we never recommend using human shampoos on dogs and we eliminate the soap all together in our dog washes. Many humans choose soap free alternatives too for the same reason!
"What a day I've had! Just one spray of Rufus & Coco's 4in1 Detangler & Pamper Spray, and I feel pampered from head to paw. My coat has been glossed and smoothed – getting out all those nasty knots, and I've also removed any trace of an unflattering smell (which I'm still yet to be convinced was there in the first place!). Now I am ready for the show!"
I brought this to help with grooming my puppy, it worked well with him. Plus he ended up smelling so nice, also great to use for a spray when he comes in after getting wet. Thank you.
I love this product because it's works really well as a diluted rinse after shampooing for Archie especially because of his this corse hair, he lets me rinse him in this instead of running for cover!
Rufus & Coco 4In1 Pamper Spray leaves my beautiful puppy Princess with a smooth, radiant, lovely smelling coat. She is absolutely shining and her coat looks so glossy and beautiful. Since we started using 4In1 Pamper spray, she has gotten so many compliments about how soft and smooth her fur is! This is a product we will always be purchasing from now on.
At this very moment in time I have one very large giant breed dog that I'm unable to wash due to him recovering from surgery, it's a slow healing deal so seven weeks unwashed and counting. I also need to keep him indoors so his bedding, the room and him smell pretty horrible (if this was a cartoon there would be a large green cloud following him around with skulls and cross bones, killing things on contact.) The past few weeks I have shopped from pet supply to grocery store trying different non-wash deodorizers. This is the only one that keeps the stench at bay! It's not the best smell to begin with, well rather all the other deodorizers had floral or minty scents, this one has a charcoal/cleaning product smell to it HOWEVER only a couple of spritz on the dog and his bedding and curtains and it totally eliminates all bad odors on both dog and the room. it's not forever, I start to smell the stench again after four-five days but just a couple of spritz is all that is needed to soak up some rather nasty stinks.
